- A fictional character you identify with and why
This is actually a pretty hard one. XD I think I share traits with many characters, and some years ago I'd probably have given you a long list of characters I thought I identified with, but now... I really don't know.
Hmm. Maybe Aziraphale from Good Omens? We both have what would probably be called an awfully outdated fashion sense (I'd like to think that I'm not nearly as bad, though... and since my two-week paid trial expired, my two Adam Lambert icons have replaced two of my GO icons, so I can't use this icon for this post; it'd have been fitting), we both worship books, particularly rare and/or old ones, we both call people "dear", and I have a dreadful fondness for tartan. Also... between Aziraphale and Crowley, it seems like Crowley's actually the more optimistic one while Aziraphale seems to have the more jaded view of humanity; Crowley's the one who has to go and get drunk for a week after seeing the Spanish Inquisition. While I am constantly shocked by what humanity's capable of, overall I do tend to take a more pessimistic view of it. XD However, I do prefer cocoa to tea.
There's also Remus J Lupin from Harry Potter, to some extent. Mostly because of the chocolate and books. XD Also, maybe it's just me reading too much into things and forcing my head!canon onto him, but it seemed to me that sometimes he couldn't quite get why he was a Marauder, why the popular James Potter and Sirius Black cared so much about him; he didn't see what he had to offer people, and we see that repeated later on with Tonks (putting aside my inner Remus/Sirius fangirl and my slashy reasons for that). And sometimes I, too, wonder (in a good way, usually) why my friends are here, what they see in me, what I can offer them.
And of course, from the same fandom, there's also Hermione Granger and Luna Lovegood. Hermione for obvious reasons - I'm also a huge bookworm and I think all the answers to everything can be found in books/the library (or Google), and I'd like to think I'm as loyal to my friends as she is. I'm not always very logical, though, and I'm only a top student for certain subjects that I enjoy, like English/GP/Lit. And I am a proud nerd; with certain subjects, I genuinely enjoy learning and will voluntarily read more about them for fun.

Date: 18/4/11 06:40 pm (UTC)Until Luna's first appearance I used to think that Neville Longbottom was as close as any book would ever get to having a character like me. - There's nothing heroic about me and I'm much too pathetic to feature as a villain, nothing worth writing about - And then there was Luna. (Okay, so I never read esoteric magazines or believed anything in them, but my classmates definitely did ignore everything I said deeply convinced it couldn't be worth hearing. And I never wore radishes or bottle-corks ... but I sure would have wanted to, if only I'd dared. I guess Luna is braver than me ... Neville is too.)

Date: 18/4/11 06:48 pm (UTC)I definitely read odd things even if I don't believe everything. And the only reason I wouldn't wear a bottle-cork is because I don't want to. XD I do wear large jewellery and odd things though.

Date: 19/4/11 01:16 pm (UTC)Also, I love the journey/transformation of Neville in the books. He's a pudgy boy who still has the courage to stand up to his friends in the first book, he helps Harry with the second task in GoF, and in OotP he really grows as a wizard and character, with the Ministry battle. And at the end of HBP Neville and Luna are the only DA members who answer the call, and Harry "felt a sudden strong rush of affection"; he can rely on them. And Neville is kickass in DH. All he needed was an opportunity, which Harry provided.
*hugs* <3

As is Luna.

Date: 19/4/11 02:42 pm (UTC)We'll never know. <3 Anyway, everyone has their good qualities, and you've always been an awesomely caring and supportive friend.

Date: 19/4/11 05:37 am (UTC)Cocoa vs. tea depends on the weather for me! Milk's kind of more solid I guess so it works during winter a little more or maybe it's just an association with being warm before bed. Either's pretty easy to make, but I'm probably cheating most of the time with milk… Got a pot recently, so I've been having more tea. \o/
Huh.
I used to kind of like tartan. I should see if I can find some patterns or something (though I should… figure out computer stuff first :D;;). Got any tartans you particularly like?
Hnn, I think there's a general tendency to specialise… knowing about different stuff is good, too.

Date: 19/4/11 12:53 pm (UTC)I like this (http://www.scottish-wedding-dreams.com/images/campbell-clan-red-wr1592.gif) one! I tend to prefer it when it's predominantly red. I wear a lot of red. XD Or rather, red and black. Bit of an infernal wardrobe. XD What sort do you like?
I tend to spout random facts about a wide variety of things. XD However, when it comes to in-depth knowledge it certainly tends to be ancient history, mythology, literature and stuff, though I know a fair bit about random topics like, say mitochondrial DNA and the clan mothers theory.

Date: 20/4/11 03:08 am (UTC)Oh, that's pretty nice. I'd pretty much have to go through more than I just have, but I like this one out of Cameron (and this is also pretty nice!). Something like this, too.
Clan mothers?

Date: 21/4/11 07:33 am (UTC)I really LOVE that second one! :D :D The third one is interesting, but not my colour. XD
A person's maternal ancestry can be traced through their mitochondrial DNA, or mtDNA. Both men and women possesses the DNA, of course, but only women pass it on to their children. I think it's explained nicely here (http://www.oxfordancestors.com/content/view/35/55/). I read about it in The Seven Daughters of Eve (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Seven_Daughters_of_Eve) by Bryan Sykes; it's really interesting.
