HAPPY BIRTHDAY, HARRY JAMES POTTER AND JK ROWLING!!!

It's sort of poignant to watch the first movie now because he's this adorable, innocent cherubic little boy who has no idea of the horrors he'll face. :'S
I grew up with these books - I got the first three books as a gift for my 9th birthday, and Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows were gifts for my 13th and 16th birthdays respectively, so it's almost full circle, you know? (GoF was bought with birthday money and OotP was bought a couple of weeks before my eleventh birthday - hooray for being born in July!) And now I'm eighteen, so I've been a Harry Potter fangirl for over half my life!
Harry Potter has had such a huge impact on me, and is so very important to me - I've discovered other fandoms and authors since then, and prefer Tolkien and Gaiman to Rowling, but Rowling's books will always hold a very special place in my heart. I talk about that at length in last year's July 31st post here, so I won't repeat myself, but I will repeat my toast.
*raises glass* To Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived, and to Joanne Kathleen Rowling, the woman who told us his amazing story.
*throws red and gold confetti*
