It's the first of April! :D

April Fools' Day has traditionally been a day for pranks and practical jokes. To me, pranks immediately bring to mind the Marauders. But to other more sane Harry Potter fans, they bring to mind the twins, Fred and George Weasley, and for good reason.

Almost their every appearance in the books (with the exception of Deathly Hallows) has me laughing out loud. Their prank war with Umbridge, in particular, is one of the highlights of the series, to me. Thus, it is fitting that they were born on the first of April. XP

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, FRED AND GEORGE WEASLEY!

Also, Nanyang seriously rocks - finally, people besides me understand the importance of pranks on April 1st! I have this retractable blade, that has shocked and scared many people over the years as I dramatically plunge it into myself/someone else, with a theatrical gasp/scream (depending on where I am) of pain. I brought it with me today, and during Tamil Lit, Yasmin, Priyanka and I plotted to scare Mr Sellakrishnan.

At the end of the lesson, while he was cleaning the board, Yasmin and I pretended  to have an argument, although we were both controlling giggles and it was rather evidently fake to anyone watching us. (thankfully his back was turned). As he finally turned towards us, we schooled our features; and I pretended to look pissed off as I plunged the knife into her shoulder. Yasmin promptly screamed.

Unfortunately, it didn't work so well - he barely reacted. His eyes widened a bit as first, then he looked a bit amused and was all (in Tamil), "An April Fool's joke, is it?". We broke down into embarrassed giggles and ran to Assembly (where I cheered up a bit after shocking a few people with the knife, and after everyone was enjoying themselves with it).

After PE, we were going to the canteen when we noticed a sign saying 'Free Sweets' next to a basket on the Student Council's counter, outside the canteen. Suspecting a prank already, but also hopeful, we looked into the basket - only to be rewarded with loads of tiny slips of paper with 'Sweet' printed on them, and a few sweet wrappers. XD

Later, after the last lesson, [Chemistry] Gena, Gabriel (yes, I actually have a classmate named Gabriel, who is fully aware that I play the archangel Gabriel online) and I were going to the canteen for lunch when I noticed a piece of paper stuck to one of the tables outside Lecture Theatre 4 (which is en route to the canteen). I went to read it; it said Please look under the table. Amused and a little wary, I knelt, struggling with my bag and files, to peer at the piece of paper stuck to the underside of the table, and came up shaking with loud and very amused laughter. It said Congratulations! You have just wasted ten seconds of your life.

And I'm sure you're aware that last Saturday, we had Earth Hour. (I helped out in an Astronomy event; I'll post the photos this Friday, hopefully) Today, there was this hilarious SMS going around which said, 'Guys. Because Earth Hour was a success, there's another project: the Air Hour. All you have to do is hold your breath for an hour (7 to 8pm) today. Please pass it on! To preserve the air for future generations!' I laughed and laughed at that.

I was, sadly, unaware that doing all this is allowed. Next year, I shall prepare my own such jokes. Students of Nanyang Junior College 2010, beware! MOO HA HA HA HA HA!

Edit: Oh yes, I forgot to mention that after school I was walking home with three friends from the Library Club. One of the girls, whom I shall refer to as A10 since that's her counselor number but I can't quite recall her name at the moment, stopped to talk to a friend. Ru Ying, Shuan Yi and I promptly ran away and hid in am empty classroom. After a while, she began to walk towards us; I carefully sneaked out the back door, standing so I was hidden from her by the wall, and as she drew level, I leapt out, shouting, "Hello!'. She actually screamed, jumping back, and the three of us doubled over laughing. XDDD
