Role-play fic
Mar. 9th, 2009 03:26 pmAs I may have mentioned a gazillion times before, I play the Archangel Gabriel in a Good Omens role-play at

I SWEAR, THIS FREAKING WROTE ITSELF. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON, MY HAND TOOK ON A LIFE OF ITS OWN. It doesn't even make that much sense to me (as in, I don't know why certain lines insisted on being in there).
I don't know how to categorise it - none of these characters are from GO so it's not a Good Omens fanfic. I found myself bringing in Carasel and Saraquael, so I suppose it can be seen as fanfiction for Neil Gaiman's short story Murder Mysteries - that sounds better than 'Biblical fanfiction', anyway. But it could also be seen as original fiction, if I leave out Carasel and Saraquael. And I'm leaving them in.
I had something vaguely planned when I began writing. Then my fingers and pen took on a life of their own and all I could do was hang along for the ride. I don't even know what I wrote.
STRONG RELIGIOUS [JUDAEO-CHRISTIAN] CONTENT. IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY SUCH THINGS, PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON THE CUT.
Disclaimer: Carasel, Saraquael and this version of Heaven (i.e. the Silver City) and Lucifer belong to Neil Gaiman. Gabriel, presumably, belongs to himself, although this version of him belongs to me
( Reflections )
As I mentioned above, I honestly don't know how what I had planned as a character study of Gabriel turned into a study of Lucifer and some of Gabriel's issues; if any of my fellow RP'ers are reading this, it explains why Gabriel is tolerant - he knows there is very little separating angels and demons - and also, maybe later on in the game, no other angel gets to help groom his wings - it reminds him of the friend he lost. It also shows how scared he is of Falling, perhaps even more so than the average angel; he was very close to doing so once, when all it would have taken was assent to an invitation to walk, to form more questions.
Also, let me repeat, the story wrote itself; I was just as surprised and confused when I read what I had written as you probably are. XP
I'll be linking this in mad_prophecies and probably
lower_tadfield after that. Right now, though, I should go get an early start on the English Lit project. ;D
